Our Programs:

Finding Peace through

Equine Assisted Learning

At Eirene Ranch, we offer Christ-centered Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) programs designed to help individuals who have experienced trauma find healing, peace, and wholeness. Our programs focus on building trust, emotional resilience, and personal growth through meaningful interactions with horses.

Why Equine Assisted Learning?

Two people care for horses in a grassy outdoor setting with trees and sunlight. One person stands by a spotted horse on the left, and another person pets a solid-colored horse on the right.

Equine Assisted Learning offers a unique, experiential approach to healing. Horses, with their intuitive nature, help individuals develop emotional resilience, rebuild trust, and navigate trauma in a safe, peaceful environment.

  • Horses respond to human emotions, helping participants identify and process their feelings in real-time.

  • Interacting with horses fosters mindfulness and helps participants become more aware of their internal states.

  • The bond participants develop with horses mirrors the relationships they can build in their everyday lives.

How Our Sessions Work

In each session, participants are paired with a horse and a mentor to guide them through exercises that focus on building trust, emotional awareness, and mindfulness. Sessions take place in a serene outdoor environment where participants can experience the peace and quiet necessary for healing.

  • No Horse Experience Required: You don’t need any previous experience with horses to participate.

  • Christ-Centered: Our approach is grounded in faith, offering a space for participants to connect spiritually as they heal emotionally.

Testimonials

  • “Equine therapy gave my daughter more than just time with horses — it gave her confidence and a place where she felt truly understood. Watching her grow through this experience has meant everything to our family. We’re so grateful for the patience, support, and healing this journey has brought into her life. Miss Olivia and the entire Eirene Ranch team was truly so kind and welcoming to both of us!

The Peace Walks that are offered to parents are what truly stand out to me. I haven’t seen or heard of a program that not only serves the children, but the parents too. This session honestly felt like therapy for myself, along with Kennedi. I can NOT thank you and Eirene Ranch enough.”

  • “My son was referred to an equine program at Eirene Ranch in Arcadia through school. We didn't know much about it or horses in general, but figured why not... It has been the best experience for him. I can't even express how amazing it has been! I look forward to going there every week, too. It is so serene and peaceful and the staff and volunteers are amazing not only with the horses, but the children and us parents, too!”

  • “Eirene Ranch was the best part of our week this Spring. I initially hesitated to sign my daughter up because she never showed any real interest in doing anything other than playing her video games and watching YouTube. I didn’t want to waste a slot for a child who actually would want to be there. However we signed up anyway, and I was amazed by how after the very first week Tuesdays became the day we all looked forward to. She learned how to groom a horse, halter a horse, lead a horse, walk in step with a horse and so may other things. I watched her incorporate each weeks lessons into normal days at home and apply what she learned to different moments of the day. All of a sudden she knew how to take a deep breath and regroup. She learned how to slow herself down, breath through a bad moment and get back on track. So far this has been the very best therapeutic type program she has been in and she has been in many. All of the volunteers are wonderful and watching them with the other kids, it was nice to see how well they were matched up. Rita was the perfect fit for her. She could keep her engaged and correct her at the same time encourage her and had an enormous amount of patience. Thank you Karen and volunteers for all you do. We appreciate you so much!!”
